3D textile printer

Solid 3D printer is a new high technology. What about desktop 3D printer?  With the technology developed so fast, there appeared a series of new 3D printers, such as solid color printer, digital camera printers, digital photo printers and so on. Let those printers aside, let us first aware of the 3D printing technology.   
The 3-D design was generated by taking a 2-D image of a crocheted doily and manipulated the connecting parts of it in order to separate them into concentric circles that could link together. The linking system is what allows the model to have greater dimension and contrast in elevation. There were for different links created in this model. All of them were rotated at approximately 60 degrees in their frontal elevations, while in side elevations two were rotated 30 degrees. From the side elevation the two smaller links have the same dimensions. The links are what make the model 3D, only at the connection points are variations in height for the model created, besides one concentric piece that was made to be 5 mm in thickness because it does not have any connecting links directly attached to it.
This type of model can be used at human scale in a similar way that the inspiration pattern for the model is used for. With the use of a heat resistant material the model could still be used to be the base for elements such as hot pots or pans on the kitchen table. This would allow the crochet doily to become more of a functional instead of purely decorative object.
At an architectural scale, the model can be used as a screening system in a wall or a terrace. Since each circular composition is easily attached to another with links that don’t need to attach directly to the pieces, the modules can easily form to different shapes because of the flexibility in the connections.
The model did not break while coming out of the 3D printer, instead the model broken only when wetted and broke more when attempts were made to glue it back together. Through this process I have learned that the links were the right thickness, but the pieces that were secured to one point of the links needed to be a little thicker because none of the breaks were on the links.
In order to prepare for a very risky surgery, that part of the body was printed out and practiced on in order to prevent any greater harm in an already risky surgery.
